Streamlining the Induction Process for Sirius Minerals

With the new year truly ushered in and already set to be shaping up to be a big one for us, we wanted to take a moment to talk about one of our biggest wins of 2017 - Sirius Minerals.

Working alongside Innovate Tees Valley & NEPIC, we began a strong working relationship with Sirius Minerals in June 2017, which continues to be a close knit relationship as we take a proactive approach to managing their inductions, on a site that is evolving and changing rapidly.

Sirius Minerals were looking for an affordable solution to streamline their induction process. Our Intasite platform allows companies to cut costs & save time trying to coordinate lengthy induction sessions, without cutting the quality.

Our easy to use platform combines our digital expertise with health and safety induction knowledge to produce bespoke site entry platforms that can be delivered remotely. This approach has allowed Sirius Minerals visitors, contractors and workers to carry out their induction programme assessment from computers & laptops, mobile phones as well as tablet devices in advance of their visit.

How Has Sirius Minerals Benefited From Working With Intasite?

A less resource heavy induction programme for Sirius Minerals, improved reliability & management of record keeping with a more efficient process of granting access to visitors at the gate-house.

The introduction to Sirius Minerals came from NEPIC after our team enrolled with Innovate Tees Valley for sector focused growth support following up on connections already established with Teesside University.

Intasite directors had the opportunity to pitch to key decision makers at NEPIC events, who were acting as mentors and offered advice regarding product relevance, pitch presentation, and the all important introduction to Sirius Minerals

The UK-based multi-nutrient fertiliser company is currently constructing what will be the world’s largest polyhalite mine near Whitby in North Yorkshire, with processing facilities on Teesside. With such a large project on their hands, Sirius Minerals needed a low cost, time efficient and reliable induction process in place. Equally as important to them was the ability to future proof their induction content and make quick changes to the induction material to accommodate their continuously developing site over their planned 3 year construction phase.

Still maintaining a close relationship with Sirius, we are able to quickly (and cheaply) update their induction content, to adhere to all the regulations and standards needed from their ever changing site.

Nigel Chapman, Health and Safety Manager for Sirius Minerals, said:

“The speed at which Intasite was able to deliver our induction package was hugely impressive, and their flexibility was invaluable,”

“Working with local businesses and having a local supply chain is also very important to us, so to find a good provider in Teesside was a huge bonus.”

Intasite director, Danielle Croce added:

“The Intasite platform stands on its own merit, having built up an intimate client base across the UK. However, without Innovate Tees Valley support, the introductions needed to secure an opportunity with Sirius Minerals and other companies in the process sector would not have been possible.

“NEPIC provided opportunities to present to industry professionals and gain a better understanding of the needs and requirements of the sector. This has by far been the biggest benefit of the programme, giving us the opportunity to create a long-lasting relationship with one of our biggest clients.”

NEPIC Innovate Tees Valley programme manager, Joanne Rout, commented:

“This is a fabulous outcome for both Intasite and Sirius Minerals. It is also testament to the Innovate Tees Valley approach, the outstanding support we receive from industry mentors and the determination and ambition of the region’s small business community.”

Phase 1 of implementation went live in 2017 and our continued relationship with Sirius is allowing us to be proactive in amending induction material in line with their 3 year construction plan to ensure that their induction material is up to date, along with maintaining a streamlined system.
